Director of the GIR (Recognized Research Group) BRASILHIS – History of Brazil and the Hispanic World in Comparative Perspective. Director of the BRASILHIS database (www.brasilhis.usal.es). Member of the Finisterra_lab Research Group of the Universidade de São Paulo. Member of the Political and Institutional Configurations Research Group of CHAM, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Director of the Brazilian Studies Center of the University of Salamanca (USAL – Spain). His research currently deals with the History of Brazil in the Hispanic Monarchy (1580-1640), History of the Dutch Occupation of Brazil (1600-1654) and Comparative History of Colonial Systems.
